FitCoach runs an online coaching service: your coach plans your training and nutrition, and you log what you do in the FitCoach app. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it.
Who we are
FitCoach is the coaching service that runs this website and app. Your coach works with FitCoach and uses the app to coach you.
The app runs on servers we control. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services.
What we collect
Only what coaching needs:
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, language, units, time zone, and your password, which is stored only as a secure hash.
- Your questionnaire: age, sex, height, weight and target weight, goal, experience, schedule, equipment, injuries, dietary needs and anything else you choose to tell your coach. Some of this is health information.
- What you log: workouts and sets, meals and water, daily check-ins (such as weight, steps, sleep and mood), weekly check-ins with measurements and answers, and personal records.
- Photos and messages: progress photos, meal photos and everything you send in the chat, including voice notes and videos.
- Technical data: the push notification address of each device where you turn notifications on, your IP address and browser type in our security logs, and the cookies described below.
Why we use it
To coach you: to show you your plan, to let your coach follow your progress and adjust your plan, to send the reminders you choose, and to keep your account secure. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
We handle your health information because you give it to us to receive coaching, when you accept your invitation and use the app. You can stop at any time by deleting your account.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists, so that you and your coach can see your history. If your coach archives your account, your data is kept until you or the platform delete it.
When you delete your account, your data and files are deleted straight away. Copies in our encrypted backups disappear as the backups rotate, within about 120 days. Security logs keep a record that an action happened, not your details.
How we protect it
Everything travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Photos are stored privately and only shown through links that expire within minutes, after checking that the person asking may see them. Passwords are hashed, two-factor authentication is available, logins and uploads are rate limited, and sensitive actions are logged.
Your choices and rights
- Download your data at any time: Settings → Profile → Download my data gives you everything in one file.
- Correct your details in Settings, or ask your coach to correct your profile.
- Delete your account and everything in it: Settings → Profile → Delete account.
- Choose which notifications you get, by push or by email, and set quiet hours, in Settings → Notifications.
- Ask us anything about your data, or complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The service is for people aged 16 and over. Younger people may only use it with a parent or guardian who agrees to this policy for them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. The date at the top shows the current version.
